Henderson State women's golf opened their season Tuesday in the first round of the Central Region Fall Preview in Blue Springs, Missouri. The team posted an opening round 301, good enough for a tie for fourth place.

Senior Lily Nelson led the team with a 2-under 70. The New Castle, Colorado native sits in solo second after a solid round featuring three birdies at Adams Pointe Golf Club, including two in her opening five holes. Nelson trails Central Missouri's Mia Rallo by one stroke in the individual standings.

A balanced score sheet followed Nelson, as Hailey Coleman, Lora Jones, and Paulina Narvaez all posted matching 5-over 77s on the day. Coleman's lone birdie was on the par three eighth hole, which helped her post a front nine score of 38.

Jones found slightly more success on her opening nine, scattering two birdies around four bogeys on the day. The Soest, Netherlands native birdied both par threes on the back nine, which were the opening nine holes for Henderson.

Narvaez played around two bogeys on the opening nine, birdieing the par four 18th hole to post a 37 on her first nine holes of the day. The birdie on 18 carried the Guanajuato, Mexico native to her best series of holes, submitting eight consecutive holes of par or better in the middle of the round.

Isabella Ferreira posted an 85 as the Reddies' fifth score. The Plano, Texas native bounced back from a rough opening six holes to par six consecutive holes at the turn.

Henderson State looks to improve on their position in Wednesday's second and final round.
