Reddies Fall on the Road Against Harding

SEARCY, Ark. – The Reddies went on the road against the Harding Bison tonight and fell 3-1.

The Reddies showed some strong offense, as Katilyn Steffes provided another double-double on the night, posting 20 kills on a .241 hitting percentage, as well as providing 12 digs. Kelis Battles provided nine kills, while Skylar Holler and Tyhia Mack combined for 17 and 13 assists respectively. On the defensive side, Kaylon Partain provided 17 digs for the Reddies, while Berkeley Berry had her first career double-digit dig night with 11.

Both teams exchanged points quickly in the first set, as both teams kept it tied for several points, before a 4-0 run by the Bison gave them an 11-7 lead. The Reddies stayed competitive, but another 3-0 run by the Bison led to a Henderson timeout. Unfortunately, Harding kept up the pressure and 6-0 run led to set point, before one final point won them the set 25-14.

The second set was just as contested as the first, as both teams kept it even. The Reddies took the lead first, going up 5-3, and even pulling ahead 8-5. A 3-0 run by Harding tied it up 8-8 and then took the lead of two quick points. Another 3-0 run by the Bison forced a Henderson timeout, before they went on their own 4-0 run to take the lead 16-15, and Harding took a timeout. The Reddies continued to push, extending the run to 7-0, as they held the lead 19-15. Two kills by Kelis Battles aided the Reddies in pulling ahead to 23-19. While Harding scored two to make it 24-21, another kill by Battles ended the second set 25-21, Reddies.

The Reddies got off to a fast start in the third set, taking a quick 3-1 lead. While Harding was able to tie it, Henderson pulled ahead, 6-3. Harding once again was able to tie it off a 3-0 run, but Henderson once again pulled ahead, forcing the Bison to take a timeout. Harding were able to climb back, tying the score, and eventually taking the lead 20-19, as the Reddies took a timeout. The Bison continued to pull ahead 21-19, and the Reddies took their second timeout. Harding ultimately won the third set 25-20.

In the fourth set, the Reddies again took a quick lead 5-2. The Bison were able to come back, going on a 5-0 run to pull ahead 7-5. While a kill by Katilyn Steffes ended the run, Harding continued to push ahead, and Henderson took a timeout with the score 10-6. Harding kept up the pressure and used a 5-0 run to pull ahead 16-8. The Reddies tried to climb back, but Harding held them off, and secured the match with a 25-16 win in the last set.
