Nelson Wins Central Region Preview, Reddies Finish Fifth

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Henderson State's Lily Nelson fired her second consecutive two-under par 70 Wednesday to win the individual championship at the Central Region Fall Preview in Blue Springs, Missouri. Nelson is the second consecutive Reddie to win individual honors at the tournament, following Felisa Sajulga's win in 2024.

Nelson caught fire on Wednesday's back nine, scoring four birdies with five pars in the final nine holes. The New Castle, Colorado native's 32 on the back nine was the best nine hole score posted in the tournament, helping her bounce back from an opening nine score of 38.

Henderson State finished in fifth place as a team after posting an 18-over 306 on the second day of the two round invitational, which featured 18 of the Central Region's best teams opening their fall seasons.

Paulina Narvaez fired her second consecutive 77 to finish 27th individually and second on the team. The senior had one birdie on the day to go along with 12 pars. Lora Jones finished just one stroke behind Narvaez, posting a 78 for the round. The freshman bounced back from three consecutive bogeys to par seven of her next nine holes.

Hailey Coleman and Isabella Ferreira rounded out the scoring for the Reddies with an 81 and 83, respectively. Coleman, who had one birdie on the day, finished 53rd individually, while Ferreira, who also carded one birdie Wednesday, finished 74th.

Henderson State will return to action on Monday, September 22, when they head to Corinth, Texas to face defending national champion Dallas Baptist in the DBU Women's Classic. The two day tournament will take place at Oakmont Country Club.
