ARKADELPHIA, Ark. -- Henderson State's
Lily Nelson was named the Great American Conference Golfer of the Week for week one of the 2025-26 season. This is Nelson's third time receiving the honor from the conference.
The New Castle, Colorado native won the individual championship at the Central Region Fall Preview earlier this week in Blue Springs, Missouri. Nelson shot back-to-back 70s to shoot 4-under par and earn her first individual championship since winning the GAC Tournament as a freshman in 2023. The 140 total strokes was good enough for a one shot win over Central Missouri's Mia Rallo. Her back nine 32 in Wednesday's second round was the best nine hole score shot by a golfer in the tournament, as Nelson led the Reddies to a fifth place finish in the season opening tournament.
Nelson earned two GAC player of the week honors last season. She also earned All-GAC First Team honors a season ago and was named a WGCA Honorable Mention All-American.
