Here to Stay: Greg Holsworth Signs Three-Year Extension as Head Coach of Reddie Football

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Henderson State Director of Athletics Seth Dutton announced Wednesday that head football coach Greg Holsworth has agreed to a three-year contract extension that will keep him at the helm of the Reddies' program through 2028.

"Greg Holsworth has proven that he is the right coach at the right time for Henderson State Football," Dutton said. "With back-to-back eight-win seasons to begin his head coaching career, the sky is the limit for what we can accomplish with him leading the young men in our program. Greg has a clear vision for what Henderson State should be and how he plans to get us there. I'm thrilled to stand alongside him in that endeavor both now and into the future."

Since being promoted to head coach in the summer of 2024, Holsworth has upheld the success and high standard that the program has enjoyed over the last two decades. With Holsworth at the reins, the Reddies have won 16 games in the last two seasons, the most by any coach in their first two years in program history. Henderson finished the 2025 season on a three-game win streak, including a 41-14 victory at rival Ouachita Baptist in the 98th Battle of the Ravine.

Heralded as one of the top young leaders in college football, Holsworth was the only NCAA Division II head coach to be recognized on the AFCA's 35-Under-35 Leadership Institute in 2025.

"I'm truly honored to continue the work we are doing here at Henderson State," Holsworth said. "I appreciate the confidence and support of our administration as we push this program forward and aim higher in the years to come. I'm excited about the trajectory of what we are building with Reddie Football. Henderson State has become home for my family and we look forward to many more fall Saturdays inside of Carpenter-Haygood Stadium and GeoSurfaces Field in the years to come."

In addition to the team success, individual accolades have poured in for the Reddies under Holsworth's leadership and player development. Over the course of two seasons, the Reddies have had two All-Americans, two All-Region honorees, and 24 All-GAC selections. The 24 All-Conference players are the most in a two-year stretch for Henderson State since the 2015 and 2016 seasons.

"Coach Holsworth has proven beyond a doubt that he is a tremendous leader, and we look forward to watching him take Reddie Football to unprecedented new heights," Henderson State chancellor Dr. Trey Berry said. "We know he will continue to personify the Reddie Spirit and exemplify the very best our university has to offer."
