Nelson Second, Reddie Golf in Fourth at Southern Invite

HOUSTON, Texas – Henderson State women's golf opened the spring portion of its 2025-26 schedule Monday at the Southern Invite, played at the Tradition Course at Cypresswood Golf Club in Houston.

After two rounds, the Reddies sit alone in fourth place for the tournament, trailing national top-ten UT-Tyler and Dallas Baptist, as well as 31st-ranked Rogers State. Henderson is +33 through two rounds of play, leading fifth-place St. Mary's by just one stroke.

It was a hot start in Monday morning's opening round; the team scored four birdies through its opening five holes, paced by back-to-back birdies from Lily Nelson, who led the individual leaderboard most of the day. The senior carded rounds of 71 and 73 on Monday and is just one shot behind individual leader Martha Laremark of UT-Tyler.

Isabella Ferreira sits in 25th place after a first round 75 and a second round 78. She sits just seven spots in front of senior Paulina Narvaez, who shot 76-79 and is in 32nd place.

Lora Jones and Hailey Coleman rounded out the scoring for HSU; Jones started slow with an opening-round 84, but came charging back with a 76 in round two to help the Reddies keep their spot on the leaderboard. Coleman was steady, shooting 81-83, and did account for two birdies on the day.

The final round of the Southern Invite is scheduled for Tuesday morning with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m.
