DURANT, Okla. - The Reddies (7-4, 1-1) continue their long road portion of their season, beginning GAC play in a double header against Southeastern Oklahoma State in Durant. The Reddies fell in game one 6-3 and then won game two 3-2.
Game One: Henderson State 3, Southeastern Oklahoma State 6
The scoring didn't begin until the second inning for either team, with the Savage Storm scoring three runs to take the lead. They extended their lead with three more runs in the fourth, before
Josie Copeland hit a home run after a
Josie Golden double to score two. The Reddies tried to rally in the seventh but only managed one more run off a single by
Tatum Bittick to end the game 6-3.
The Reddies scored three runs off eight hits. Mazzie Jones went 2-3 with a double, and Copeland went 1-3 with a home run and two RBIs.
Lacey Kelley (0-1) earned the start in game one, pitching 3.2 innings, giving up six runs on seven hits, recording two strikeouts and three walks.
Game Two: Henderson State 3, Southeastern Oklahoma State 2
The Reddies scored runs early, as a double by
Hilary Akers got the first runner on base.
Tatum Bittick reached first on an error and stole second to put two runners in scoring position.
Josie Copeland then hit a double to right center to score both Akers and Bittick, giving the Reddies a 2-0 lead. Southeastern eventually tied it 2-2 in the bottom of the second.
The scoring didn't continue until the fifth inning, when Bittick hit a solo home run to give Henderson State the lead 3-2. The Reddies managed to hold the Savage Storm scoreless the rest of the game, turning a key double-play in the sixth to win the game 3-2.
The Reddies scored three runs on seven hits in the second game. Bittick went 1-4 with a home run and a stolen base, Akers went 2-4 with a double, and Copeland went 3-4 with a double and two RBIs.
Presley Applegate (5-1) pitched her fourth complete game of the season, giving up two runs on seven hits and recorded five strikeouts to only two walks.
