Reddie Baseball Opens Season with 7-0 Win Over UAFS

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Henderson State opened the season with a 7-0 win over Arkansas-Fort Smith on Thursday at Clyde Berry Field.

Ethan Roark set the tone on the mound for the Reddies. The right-hander allowed two hits over five scoreless innings, struck out eight, and walked two in his season debut
Roark worked out of his toughest spot in the third inning, stranding a runner at third. He finished his outing by striking out two in the fifth and picking off a runner to end the frame.

Henderson State (1-0) broke a scoreless tie in the sixth. Nate Moore walked and stole second before Tanner Ross doubled to deep center to drive him in. Tripp Campbell followed with a ground-rule double to score Ross, and Campbell later came home on wild pitches to extend the lead to 3-0.

The Reddies added three more runs in the seventh. Cale Edmonds and Moore drew walks to set up Mason Krznarich, who hit a three-run home run to deep center — his first of the season — to make it 6-0.
Henderson State capped the scoring in the eighth when Adam Garcia scored on Moore's sacrifice fly to right

Robert Cheney (1-0) earned the win with two scoreless innings in relief. Tyler Bates pitched the final two innings and did not allow a hit. The Reddies' pitching staff combined to hold Arkansas-Fort Smith to five hits and struck out 13.

Moore reached base three times, scored twice, and had a stolen base. Ross and Campbell each doubled and drove in a run for Henderson State, which finished with seven hits.
The Reddies are back in action on Friday when they welcome Missouri Southern State to Clyde Berry Field on the second day of the 2026 HSU Invitational.
