SEARCY, Ark. - The Reddies (9-10, 3-5) traveled to Searcy for an away series against the Harding Bisons, beginning with a doubleheader today. Henderson State fell in game one 7-1, then lost in game two 2-0.
Game One: Henderson State 1, Harding 7
Harding struck first, scoring two runs in the bottom of the third, before adding on two more in the fourth to lead 4-0. Henderson State finally got on the board in the sixth inning, as after
Mazzi Jones and
Hilary Akers were walked,
Penelope Foote advanced the runners, and
Josie Copeland scored Jones from third.
Harding ultimately scored three more in the sixth inning to extend their lead to 7-1, and held off any comeback by the Reddies to win the game.
Henderson State scored one run on two hits, with
Josie Copeland earning the RBI.
Jersey Cabana (3-5) started in the circle today, pitching 5.1 innings, while giving up six hits on seven hits, recording three strikeouts and no walks. Avery Booker earned the win for Harding, pitching a complete game.
Game Two: Henderson State 0, Harding 2
The defense was stifling in game two, as both teams were held scoreless until the sixth inning, where Harding scored the only two runs of the game, claiming a 2-0 victory.
Henderson State recorded two hits in the second game, with
Josie Copeland earning both, going 2-3 with a double.
Presley Applegate (6-4) pitched a complete game, giving up two runs on six hits, while recording three strikeouts and three walks. Brooklyn Gobble earned the win for Harding after pitching a complete game.
