Women's Golf Climbs One Spot, in Third After Two Rounds at GAC Championship

TULSA, Okla. – Day two of the GAC Championship found a similar day for Henderson State. The team shot 24-over par, the same score as in round one, but finds itself in third place.

Arkansas Tech continues to lead the tournament, finishing round two with an overall score of 26-over par, 16 shots clear of second-place Southwestern Oklahoma State and 22 shots ahead of the third-place Reddies. Oklahoma Baptist remains alone in fourth, with Arkansas-Monticello and Northwestern Oklahoma State tied for fifth-place through 36 holes.

For the second day in a row, Henderson was paced by Lily Nelson. The senior improved her day one score by a stroke, firing a three-over par 74 after round one's 75. Nelson carded three birdies today to go along with four bogeys and finds herself fifth on the individual leaderboard.

Paulina Narvaez shot up the leaderboard with today's 75 and now sits in 10th place. Narvaez finished the round with a stretch of three birdies in her final four holes and shot one-under par on Page Belcher Golf Course's back nine.

Isabella Ferreira turned in her second consecutive seven-over par 78 on Tuesday. After a stretch of two double bogeys in three holes to finish the front nine, Ferreira carded eight consecutive pars before a bogey on 18 finished her round. She sits in 21st individually, falling two spots from Monday's standings.

Hailey Coleman carded an 81 after yesterday's 77. The junior found trouble after an opening hole birdie, going four-over in her next four holes, but finished the round with seven consecutive pars to stop the bleeding. Coleman is 26th individually with the final 18 holes to come on Wednesday.

Lora Jones shot an 85 in Tuesday's second round and dropped ten places, finishing at 43rd individually.

The Reddies find themselves in the final groupings for Wednesday's third round: Jones starts things off at 10:30 a.m., with Coleman (10:40), Ferreira (10:50), Narvaez (11:00), and Nelson (11:10) to follow. The team is paired with second-place SWOSU and first-place Arkansas Tech.
