Reddies Surge Late, Fall to Southwestern Oklahoma State 6-5

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Reddies (20-25, 11-16) couldn't recover from a 6-0 run deficit and though they surged late, fell to Southwestern Oklahoma State in the final game of the series 6-5.

The Bulldogs got on the board first, using a 6-run third inning to take a 6-0 lead. The Reddies responded in the bottom of the third as Hilary Akers singled to left before advancing to second on a sacrifice bunt by Tatum Bittick. Josie Copeland then singled to advance Akers to third, who then scored on a groundout by Josie Golden.

Henderson State continued to play catch up, with the most damage coming in the fourth inning. Paige Brandes walked to open the inning, before pinch runner Annie Stonesifer was scored by a home run by Macy Hoskins to make the score 6-3. A single by Akers put another runner on base, and Akers stole second before advancing to third on a throwing error, which allowed Copeland to reach. Sam Flores then doubled to right center to score both Akers and Copeland and the Reddies trailed only by one run.

That was the last score of the game, and Southwestern held Henderson State scoreless the rest of the game, winning 6-5.

The Reddies scored five runs on eight hits, with Macy Hoskins going 1-3 with a home run and two RBIs. Sam Flores went 1-2 with a double and two RBIs. Lacey Kelley earned the start for the Reddies, pitching two innings and giving up four runs on four hits, before Jersey Cabana (10-12) earned the loss after pitching the remaining innings, giving up two runs on six hits, while striking out two.
