Roark's Second Complete Game Shutout Carries Reddies to 3-0 Victory

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Henderson State used a complete-game shutout from Ethan Roark and a two-run first en route to a 3-0 win over Arkansas Tech on Thursday night at Clyde Berry Field.

Roark (2-2) worked all nine innings and limited Arkansas Tech to five hits. He stranded runners in scoring position in the first, third, and sixth innings and closed the game by striking out the side in the ninth inning to seal the win.

Henderson State took the lead in the first inning. Tanner Ross opened the frame with a double before Cooper McClure and Mason Krznarich drew walks to load the bases. Cale Edmonds delivered a two-run single to center field to give the Reddies an early 2-0 advantage, a lead HSU would never relinquish

The Reddies added to the lead in the eighth; Ross hit a solo home run to center field, his 12th of the season, to extend the margin to 3-0.

Arkansas Tech threatened in the first after a double and a single put runners at the corners, but Roark escaped with a strikeout, his first of eight on the night. The Wonder Boys put runners on second and third in the sixth before Roark recorded another strikeout to end the inning.

Ross led Henderson State with two extra-base hits and scored twice. Edmonds drove in two runs, while Tripp Campbell, McClure, and Boe Rodriguez added hits

Cole Dickson (3-3) took the loss for Arkansas Tech, while Tyler Sardelli added two hits.

The Reddies and Wonder Boys are back in action on Friday afternoon with a doubleheader to close the series. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
