Coach Leake Headshot

Austin Leake

Austin Leake joined the Henderson State football coaching staff as the Graduate Assistant Tight Ends Coach in 2022 and is now in his secodn year with the staff in 2023.

In his first year as the tight ends coach, Leake helped coach senior Mike Benning to an All-GAC Second Team selection and an All-Super Region Three Second Team nod. Benning finished the year as Henderson's No. 2 in the passing attack behind unanimous First Team All-GAC selection Xavier Malone.

Prior to coming to HSU, Leake spent six years coaching at high school level, five of which were spent as the Offensive Coordinator at Bowling Green High School in Bowling Green, Missouri from 2015-20. While with the Bobcats, Leake oversaw an offense that improved from 24 points per game the previous season to 37 PPG in Leake's first year as OC.

Most recently, Leake was the Head Football Coach at Mark Twain High School in 2021, where he won 10 games in one season as the HC, marking the first winning season in five years at Mark Twain, reaching the District Championship for only the third time in school history. It was second winningest season in Mark Twain's 62 year football history.

Leake earned his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Health from Northwest Missouri State University in 2015 before receiving his Master of Education in Athletic Administration from William Woods University in 2017.
