Reddie Baseball Downs Arkansas Tech in GAC Opener

Conner Brackhahn's run-scoring double in the top of the 10th inning lifted Henderson State to a 4-1 win over Arkansas Tech in Great American Conference baseball action in Russellville, Ark.

The win improved Henderson State to 9-4 on the season and 1-0 in the GAC.

The Henderson State 10th began with Zach Zdanowicz reaching on a bunt single. Zdanowicz advance to second on a Taylor Coleman sacrifice bunt to set up Brackhahn's game-winning hit.

The Reddies, however, added a pair of insurance runs as Josh Salmon was hit by pitch followed by a two-run double by Michael Corso to make the score 4-1.

Dusty Hudson, who relieved Reddie starting pitcher Nathan Eller to begin the ninth, had little problems finishing the game as the Wonder Boys managed just one single in the final two innings.

Arkansas Tech got on the board first in the fourth-inning as Thomas Biocic reached on a Reddie throwing error and later scored on a Zach Thomas infield single.

Henderson State tied the game in the 8th as Mitch Frey led off the inning with a singled to right center but was caught stealing second.

Zdanowicz then singled to first base, followed by a bunt single by Coleman. Both runners advanced on a passed ball with Zdanowicz scoring on a Salmon sacrifice fly.

Eller pitched 8 innings for the Reddies, scattering five hits, allowing one unearned run and striking out five batters in a no decision.
Zdanowicz, Frey and Adam Ussery had two hits each to lead the Reddie offense.

The two teams will conclude the three-game series with a double-header Saturday at 1 p.m.
