Reddies Take Two From Harding

Henderson State swept a double-header from Harding, winning 9-2 and 5-3, Saturday at Jerry Moore Field in Searcy, Ark.

The Reddies extended their winning streak to five games and improved to 18-13 overall and 7-7 in Great American Conference play, while Harding has lost seven straight games and fell to 18-13 overall and 3-8 in league play.

Henderson State jumped out to a 2-0 lead in game one as the Reddies loaded the bases and scored when Josh Salmon walked and Michael Corso hit a sacrifice fly in the first-inning.

The Reddies added a run in both the fifth and seventh-innings to make the score 4-0. Corso, Jeff Beck and Adam Ussery put together three straight hits with two-outs to score in the fifth, while the Reddies manufactured a run in the seventh.

After Harding scored two runs in the seventh to cut the Henderson lead to 4-2, the Reddies exploded for five runs in the eighth with the big hit being a three-run double by Salmon.

Nathan Eller went the distance on the mound for the Reddies allowing just one earned while striking out six batters to improve to 3-2 on the year.
The Reddies belted out 12 hits in the game with Salmon, Corso and Taylor Coleman having two hits each.

In the nightcap, Henderson State built a 3-0 lead before the Bisons scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth-inning to tie the game.

Henderson State broke the 3-3 tie with a pair of runs in the seventh. Zac Zdanowicz singled with one out and scored the eventual game-winning run on Coleman's triple, his second of the game. Coleman scored an insurance run on a ground out by Salmon.

Henderson State reliever Tyler O'Bryant improved to 3-3 on the year picking up the win in a relief role, while Dustin Hudson earned the save by pitching a scoreless seventh.

Coleman had three of Henderson's six hits in the game and ended the day going 5-for-9 on the day with two triples.

The Reddies will go for the three-game sweep on Sunday with the first pitch set for 1 p.m.
