Henderson State rallied for four runs in the seventh-inning to complete a four-game sweep of Cameron, winning 7-0 and 10-6, Sunday in Lawton, Okla.
Win the four-game sweep of the Aggies, the Reddies begin the season 4-0 for the first time since 2009.
In game one,
Austin Coble pitched six shutout innings, scattering five hits and striking out four batters to get the win on the mound. Beau Fletcher pitched the final inning and struck out two batters to preserve the shutout.
Henderson belted out four hits in the game with
Jordan Trosclair going 2-for-4 with four runs batted in.
Matt Evans and
Tadarious Hawkins also had two hits each.
In the finale, Henderson State rallied from behind for the third time as the Reddies scored four runs in the seventh-inning.
The Reddies took and early 1-0 lead in the first-inning as
Zac Zdanowicz singled to lead off the game, stole second, and then scored on a base-hit by
Jeff Beck.
After Cameron scored three runs in the fifth-inning to take a 5-3 advantage, Henderson State tied the game in the sixth-inning as
Michael Schell and
Will Powell led off the inning with singles. With one-out,
Taylor Coleman walked to load the bases followed by Schell scoring on a wild pitch. Zdanowicz tied the score with a sacrifice fly to centerfield which plated Powell.
Cameron regained the lead in the sixth-inning before the Reddies' big rally in the seventh.
The inning began with
Tripp Reeves blasting a triple to center field followed by a Matt
Evans doubled to center field to score Reeves. Evans scored when Schell belted a single to right field to put the Reddies on top 7-6.
The Reddies weren't finished as Powell collected Henderson's fourth consecutive hit of the inning with a double.
Mitch Frey then laid down a sacrifice bunt to score two more runs and make the score 9-6.
Henderson added a run in the eighth-inning as Evans tripled to center field and scored when Schell collected his fourth hit of the game.
Schell ended the weekend series going 6-for-9 with 6 RBI and a home run, while
Michael Corso was 5-for-13 with 3 RBI.
The Reddie pitching staff struck out 27 batters in 32 innings of work while limiting the Aggies to a .207 batting average in the series.
Henderson State will play its home opener on Tuesday against Lyon with the first pitch set for Noon at Clyde Berry Field.
