Coming off a three game series sweep of East Central Oklahoma, Henderson State split a twin bill with Arkansas-Fort Smith winning game one 5-1, before losing the second game 4-3, Sunday at Clyde Berry Field.

Henderson State, 10-3 on the season, collected 11 hits in the opener with Tadarius Hawkins, Jordan Trosclair and Andy Reynolds having two hits each. Reynolds also drove in three runs for the Reddies.

Tyler O'Bryant went the distance on the mound for Henderson State allowing just four hits while striking out four batters to improve to 2-0 on the season.

Playing its fifth game in three days, Henderson State fell behind UAFS 4-1 in game two before the Reddies began a seventh-inning rally.

Ben Wainwright led off the inning with a single and then was replaced by Taylor Coleman who entered the game as a pinch-runner. Matt Evans then reached base when he was hit by a pitch. After Michael Corso grounded into a double-play, Coleman scored on a passed ball to make the score 4-2.

With two-outs, Austin Coble received a base on balls and made way for Hawkins who entered the game to run for Coble. Zac Zdanowicz kept the inning going with a single to left field advancing Hawkins to second. Jeff Beck then doubled to left field to plate Hawkins and advance Zdanowicz to third.

The comeback fell short as Carlos Rodriguez smacked a shot up the middle, but Lion shortstop Ozzie Hurt made a great defensive play to end the game.

Henderson State finished the weekend 4-1 with Zdanowicz going 8-for-14, scoring 6 runs in the five games. Also having a productive weekend was Dustin Hudson who was 6-for-14 with two home runs and 3 runs batted in.

The Reddies will next take the field on Friday, March 1 when Henderson State plays host to Arkansas-Monticello at Clyde Berry Field with the first pitch set for 2 p.m.
