REDDIES END 5-GAME LOSING SKID WITH A 14-4 WIN OVER HARDING

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Henderson State belted out 15 hits and ended a five game losing skid as the Reddies beat Harding 14-4, Saturday at Clyde Berry Field in Arkadelphia, Ark.

Henderson State, 21-17 overall and 15-9 in Great American Conference play, lost game one of Saturday's double-header 2-1.

In the series finale, Tadarius Hawkins and Mitch Frey had three hits each to lead the Reddies, while Michael Corso had two doubles and four runs batted in.

Hawkins also drove in three runs in the game while Frey added a double.

Taylor Coleman and Andrew Reynolds also had two hits with Coleman scoring three runs and driving home two runners. Reynolds also scored two runs.

Dustin Hudson pitched 5 innings, striking out four batters to improve to 6-3 on the year.

Game one was a pitching duel between Henderson's Austin Coble and Harding's Lucas Waddell as neither pitcher allowed an earned run.

With the score tied at 1-1 in the ninth, the Bisons loaded the bases with the help of a pair of walks and a Reddie error.

With one-out, Trent Wooldridge hit a fly ball to left field that was caught by Taylor Coleman. All three Bison runners attempted to advance on the play with Gabe Fyock being thrown out at third.

However, the plate umpire ruled that Victor Guerra scored before the third out was made to put the Bisons on top 2-1.

The Reddies mounted a threat in the ninth as Dustin Hudson led off the inning with a single.

Jordan Trosclair then entered the game to run for Hudson and advanced to third when Michael Schell reached on an error with one-out.

Relief pitcher Josh Spears would work out of the jam as Matt Evans popped out to first on a bunt attempt and Jeff Beck lined out to centerfield to end the game.

Coble pitched 8 innings, scattering five hits while striking out two batters in a losing effort.

Henderson State will next travel to Searcy to face Harding in a non-conference game on Tuesday.
