Henderson State managed just six hits as Arkansas-Fort Smith beat the Reddies 4-0, Wednesday in Fort Smith, Ark.
The Reddies, 21-19 on the season, had only two base runners reach third base as three UAFS pitchers combined for a shutout.
The game remained scoreless until the fifth-inning when Chad Wilson singled home Adam Baker who walked to lead off the inning to put UAFS on top 1-0.
The Lions added a run in the sixth on a RBI double by Josh Gibson.
Henderson's only threat came in the eighth-inning as
Andrew Reynolds,
Zac Zdanowicz and
Tadarious Hawkins all had singles but the Reddies failed to score.
UAFS, 20-17 on the season, put the game away in the bottom half of the inning as Gibson and Baker led off the inning with back-to-back home runs.
Henderson State starter
Scott Shimp, who was the first of four Reddie pitchers, suffered the loss, allowing one run on four hits with two walks and three strikeouts over five innings.
Henderson State will return to Great American Conference play this weekend when the Reddies travel to Russellville, Ark. to face Arkansas Tech in a three-game series beginning Friday at 7 p.m.
