REDDIES PLAY HOST TO NORTHWESTERN OKLAHOMA



After playing three of its first four games on the road, Henderson State returns home to face Northwestern Oklahoma State, Saturday at Carpenter-Haygood Stadium with the kickoff set for 3 p.m.
 
The game features the 18th Annual Reddie Hall of Honor induction ceremony which will take place in the Garrison Grand Ballroom at 11 a.m. The nine inductees will be introduced prior to kickoff.
 
Saturday's game can be heard on the Reddie Sports Network which includes ESPN 106.9 FM in Arkadelphia, covering all of southwest Arkansas; and ESPN 100.7 FM and 1310 AM Malvern, which also covers Hot Springs.

The game will also be heard on 920 AM The Sports Animal in Little Rock.
 
Henderson State, ranked No. 7 in the latest AFCA Top 25, is coming off a 44-27 win over East Central last weekend.

Kevin Rodgers has completed 69 percent of his passes (108-of-156) for an average of 314.2 yards per game. The Reddie signal caller recorded his 22nd game of 300 or more yards passing last week against East Central.           

The Reddie ground game features Rodney Bryson, Jaquan Cole, and Ryan McDonald. Bryson leads the trio averaging 63.5 yards per game including a 52-yard touchdown last week. Cole follows with an average of 63.0 yards per contest including five touchdowns, while McDonald averages 45.8 yards and three touchdowns.     

Darius Davis leads the Reddie receivers averaging 104.8 yards per game with eight touchdowns. Joseph Snapp recorded his second straight 100-plus yard game last week and has a team-best 27 receptions for 367 yards and two touchdowns. Mark Czaus is also having a big year with 16 catches for 151 yards and two scores.    

Opponents have averaged 281.0 yards of offense and are averaging just 15.2 points per game against the Reddie defense.
 
Henderson's defensive unit has been stellar in the first four games of the season. The "Big Red D" has totaled 30 tackles for lost yardage along with 14 quarterback sacks. In addition, the Reddies have forced nine turnovers and totaled 24 passes defended.
           
 Lawson Schulz leads the team with 23 tackles including 3.0 tackles for lost yardage. Wesley Brady has totaled 22 tackles including 2.5 tackles for lost yardage.
 
Northwestern Oklahoma enters Saturday's game with a 1-3 record after a 62-21 loss to Southern Arkansas last week. The Rangers average 289.5 yards of offense and 19.0 points per game this season.         

Ty Hooper is the NWOSU starting quarterback and is averaging 107 yards per game having completed 24-of-48 passes. Hooper completed 7-of-20 passes for 109 yards and a pair of touchdowns last week against Southern Arkansas.    

Jarion Tudmon is the primary running back for Northwestern averaging 66.8 yards per game while scoring three touchdowns. Tudmon rushed for 81 yards in the Ranger win over UA-Monticello, and 82 yards last week against Southern Arkansas.           

Avery Morris and Zachary Doyle are the supporting cast, both averaging over 30 yards per game.            

Dashawn Gordon leads the receiving corps with 156 yards on eight catches. 

Justin Schanbacher follows with 111 catches for 12 yards, while Jarion Tudmon has five receptions for 109 yards.   

Defensively, the Rangers have allowed 460.8 yards and 42.0 points per game.    Alex Hemberger leads the team with 40 tackles including three stops for lost yardage, while David Boatright has 28 stops. Hemberger had 11 tackles last year against the Reddies.       

Northwestern Oklahoma and Henderson State meet for the third time in a series which began in 2002. The Reddies evened the series at 1-1 with a 42-0 win last year in Alva, Okla. The first meeting between the two teams was August 31, 2002 when the Rangers beat the Reddies 56-7.
