Southeastern Oklahoma scored nine unanswered runs to come from behind to beat Henderson State 11-5, Friday in Great American Conference baseball action at Clyde Berry Field in Arkadelphia, Ark.
SOSU jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first-inning benefitting from a Reddie error and three straight walks given up by Henderson State starting pitcher
Jon Luthe.
The Reddies then put together their most productive inning of the year plating five runs all with two-outs in the bottom of the first.
With two-outs and
Hunter Mayall and
AJ Kruzel on base by virtue of walks,
Lee Richardson put the Reddies on the board with a single to right field that scored Mayall.
Ashton Roberts then tied the game with a single before
Tadarious Hawkins put the Reddies on top with a two-run double down the leftfield line.
Andrew Reynolds then made the score 5-2 when he hit a shot to right-field to score Hawkins.
SOSU, 3-2 overall and 1-0 in the GAC, scored a run in the second-inning on a double by Evan Ramsey. The Storm tied the score with a pair of runs in the third with the big hit being a Trevor Bowen double to right-center field to drive in two runs.
Southeastern took the lead in the fifth-inning when Chance Bowen hit a two-out solo home run to right-center field to make the score 6-5.
Henderson State, 0-7 overall and 0-1 in the GAC, managed just three hits the remainder of the game, while the Savage Storm continued to add to their lead.
Southeastern added a run in the sixth-inning and four more in the seventh with the help of a two-run single by Ryan Salter and a RBI base hit by Ramsey.
Ramsey ended the game with three hits for the storm including three runs batted in.
Hawkins and Reynolds had two hits each to lead the Reddies.
Dwight Camp (1-0) picked up the win on the mound for SOSU. Camp pitched 5 innings while Mason Crenshaw finished the game striking out six Reddie batters to pick up his first save of the year.
Luthe (0-3) was tabbed with the loss giving up six runs on four hits with five walks in 4 2/3 innings of work.
The two teams will conclude the series with a double-header on Saturday with the first pitch set for Noon at Clyde Berry Field.
