Due to inclement weather expected for the area this weekend, Henderson State has adjusted its baseball series with Northwestern Oklahoma State.
The Reddies and Rangers will begin their Great American Conference series with a double-header on Friday at 1 p.m. at Clyde Berry Field. The two teams will play the final game on Saturday with the first pitch set for Noon.
Henderson State, 9-19 overall and 4-11 in the GAC, will attempt to extend its four-game home winning streak.
Northwestern Oklahoma enters the weekend with a 15-10 overall record and a 5-7 mark in league play.
The Rangers are hitting .281 as a team with Jonathan Freeman leading the club having a .384 average along with 7 home runs and 24 runs batted in.
Logan Porter and Jeff Martin also provide plenty of run production for the Rangers. Porter has driven in 11 runs and sports a .365 average, while Martin has plated 10 runs and is also hitting at a .365 clip.
The NWOSU rotation features Zach Postoak, Joe Coto, and Michael Morales.
Postoak is set to pitch the opener. The junior right-hander has a 2-2 record with a 3.24 earned run average. In 33 innings of work, Postoak has struck out 20 batters.
Coto is 4-3 on the season with a 3.86 ERA and leads the team with 40 punch-outs, while Morales is 2-1 on the season with a 3.15 ERA.
Henderson State is led offensively by
Hayden Lessenberry who is hitting .367 (11-for-30). The freshman from Bryant, Ark. is 6 for his last 10 at bats with three doubles.
Matt Evans is hitting .429 in his last five games and has a season average of .333 with a team-best 15 RBI.
Hunter Mayall has been steady all year having a .309 average. The sophomore from Bryant, Ark. is hitting for a .375 average (12-for-32) in the last 10 games having driven in eight runs.
Joseph Gary has been the most productive Reddie in GAC play. The junior from Rowlett, Texas is hitting .400 against league opponents this season.
Colton Lorance and
Jay Hawley will start on the mound in Friday's twin bill, with
Dylan Howell pitching in Saturday's finale.
Lorance is 2-2 on the season with a 4.00 ERA. The junior from Texarkana, Texas has struck out a team-best 20 batters in 36 innings of work.
Hawley has been steady on the mound all season, but is still looking for his first win. The freshman from Queen City, Texas has a 4.54 ERA while limiting opponents to a .223 average.
Howell will also be looking to pick up his first win of his collegiate career as the freshman from North Little Rock has a 3.58 ERA.
Henderson State won two of three games from the Rangers in last year's series.
