Box Score Henderson State scored four runs in the first-inning and went on to beat Ouachita Baptist in a non-conference game, Tuesday at Rab Rodgers Field in Arkadelphia, Ark.
The Reddies, winners of eight of their last 10 games, improved to 15-21 on the season.
Henderson State got things started in the first-inning with the help of key singles by
Joseph Gary and
AJ Kruzel as the Reddies jumped out to a 4-0 lead.
Kruzel extended his hitting streak to 11 games with his RBI hit in the frame.
Tadarious Hawkins and
Matt Evans had back-to-back doubles in the second-inning as Henderson increased its lead to 6-0.
After OBU cut the deficit to 6-3 by the end of six innings, the Reddies added four more runs in the seventh-inning to increase the lead to 10-3.
Kruzel and
Will Powell reached base to lead off the inning when both were hit by a pitch.
Luke McGuire followed with a RBI single, while
Jared Aschbrenner loaded the bases with a single to right-field.
Andrews Reynolds picked up a RBI when he forced in a run by receiving a walk, then Hawkins plated a run with a run-scoring base hit up the middle.
Henderson's final run came in the ninth when
Hayden Lessenberry hit a two-out single to score Reynolds who walked to lead off the frame.
Chris Hunt improved to 2-2 on the season pitching five-plus innings while striking out five batters.
Stephen Brooks,
Jon Luthe,
Josh Henderson, and
Rob Thomas each worked an inning in relief.
Hawkins led the Reddies going 3-for-4 with a run batted in, while Evans and Powell had two hits each.
Henderson State will next travel to Pensacola, Fla. to take on West Florida in a three-game series beginning with a double-header Saturday at 2 p.m.
