Henderson State will continue its eight-game home stand as the Reddies play host to nationally-ranked Delta State in a double-header, Tuesday at Clyde Berry Field with the first-pitch slated for 1 p.m.
Originally the two teams were to play single mid-week games, but coaches from both teams agreed to adjust the schedule and play two 7-inning games Tuesday.
Henderson State will be facing its second straight top 10 opponent as Delta State enters the two-game set with a 30-9 record and are ranked No. 7 in this week's Collegiate Baseball poll.
The Reddies, 17-26 overall, will attempt to end a four-game losing skid. Last weekend Henderson State dropped three tough games to No. 4 Arkansas Tech.
The Reddies are hitting .262 collectively with AJ Kruzel leading the way with a .316 average. The sophomore from Cincinnati, Ohio was 3-for-7 last weekend against the Wonder Boys.
Matt Evans follows with a .305 average including a team best 11 doubles.
Chris Hunt will start game one on the mound for the Reddies, while Steven Brooks is set to start game two.
Hunt is 2-3 on the year with a 5.29 earned run average. The freshman from Greenwood, Ark. has struck out 22 batters in 34 innings of work.
Brooks is getting just his second start of the year and sports a 0-1 record with a 3.65 ERA. In 19 appearances, the sophomore southpaw from Bauxite, Ark. has worked 24.2 innings and has fanned 18 batters.
Delta State won two of three games from Shorter University over the weekend.
DSU has a team batting average of .327 with Will Robertson leading the club with a .375 average.
Delta State also boasts one of the best pitching staffs in the nation with the Statesmen having a 2.67 ERA.
