Box Score 2 Henderson State dropped a mid-week double-header to No.7 Delta State 5-1 and 11-0, Tuesday at Clyde Berry Field in Arkadelphia, Ark.
In game one, Henderson State took a 1-0 lead in the second-inning when
Andy Kovarik blasted a solo home run to center field.
DSU, 32-9 on the season, struck for three runs in the fourth-inning with the big hit being a two-run triple by Ricky Velez.
The Statesmen added a run in the fifth and sixth innings while DSU starting pitcher Casey Greene and reliever Will Robertson held the Reddies in check.
Greene pitched 5 2/3 innings and allowed four hits, while Robertson retired the final four Henderson hitters including three by strikeout.
Chris Hunt started the game and pitched five innings in getting the loss and falling to 2-4 on the year.
In game two, Delta State collected 15 hits while four Statesmen pitchers combined to limit the Reddies to five hits.
Tadarious Hawkins was 2-for-3 in the game for Henderson, while
AJ Kruzel had a double.
Henderson State will play its final series of the year when the Reddies play host to Ouachita Baptist in the Southern Bancorp Battle of the Ravine.
The three-game Great American Conference begins with a single nine-inning game on Friday at 3 p.m. with the series wrapping up on Saturday with a double-header beginning at 1 p.m. at Clyde Berry Field with the first pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
