Box Score Henderson State dropped the opening game of its three-game series with Ouachita Baptist as the Tigers beat the Reddies 5-2 in the Southern Bancorp Battle of the Ravine, Friday at Clyde Berry Field in Arkadelphia, Ark.
Hunter Mayall went 3-for-3 to lead the Reddie offense, while Lance Field had two hits including a double.
Jace Melby was 2-for-5 with a two-run double, while Matt Sinclair had a run-scoring double to lead the Tigers.
Davis Ward recorded a complete-game win for the Tigers to improve to 9-3 on the year.
Colton Lorance pitched 5 1/3 innings, giving up seven hits and striking out three batters in the loss.
The two teams will finish the series on Saturday with a double-header beginning at 1 p.m.
Southern Bancorp will be on hand for the game to give out t-shirts and cow bells.
Between games, students from Henderson and OBU will compete in the Southern Bancorp Dizzy Bat contest for prizes.
In addition, fans can win great prizes in Reddie Baseball Bingo, which will take place throughout the double-header.
