Box Score Henderson State lost a non-conference game to Arkansas-Fort Smith, 4-1 Wednesday in Fort Smith, Ark.
UAFS pitcher Devin Hampton shutout the Reddies for seven innings to pick up the win and improve to 3-1 on the year.
Henderson's lone run came in the eighth-inning as
Joseph Gary singled to lead off the inning and later scored on a sacrifice fly by
Hayden Lessenberry.
Matt Evans and
Hunter Mayall were both 2-for-4 with a double to lead the Reddies.
UAFS tagged two of Henderson State's pitchers for seven hits – all singles. Reddie starter
Chris Hunt suffered the loss and fell to 2-3 on the year, allowing two earned runs, on five hits with five walks and five strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings.
Josh Vanderpool led UAFS going was 3-for-3 with one RBI.
Henderson State will play its final Great American Conference road series of the season this weekend when the Reddies travel to Searcy, Ark. to face Harding with the first game Friday at 2 p.m.
