Box Score 2 Henderson State rallied from a three run deficit in game one and scored four runs in the seventh-inning of game two to sweep a double-header from Arkansas Tech 8-6 and 8-3, Saturday in Russellville, Ark.
The 13th-ranked Reddies improved to 8-1 overall and 4-1 in Great American Conference play, while Arkansas Tech falls to 4-9 and 0-5.
In the opener, the Reddies struck first with a run in the first-inning as Henderson loaded the bases on a pair of walks and a Wonder Boys fielding error.
Lance Fields then drove in
Hunter Mayall when he grounded out to second-base for the first run of the game.
Henderson added a run in the third-inning to make the score 2-0 when
Hayden Lessenberry lined a single up the middle to plate
Claude Johnson who singled to left field earlier in the inning.
Arkansas Tech scored five runs on five hits to take a 5-2 lead in the bottom half of the third-inning.
The Reddies would answer with three runs in the top half of the fifth with Johnson driving home the first run of the inning when he singled to left field to score
Matt Evans who led off the frame with a walk.
With runners on first and second,
Jordan Taylor singled to load the bases for Lessenberry. Lessenberry worked the count and reached on a base on balls to plate a run.
AJ Kruzel tied the score at 5-5 when he grounded out to score Johnson.
The Wonder Boys scored a run in the sixth-inning to regain the lead, but the Reddies again responded with a run in the seventh when Johnson again reached on a single and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Kruzel to knot the game at 6-6.
Ashton Roberts led off the eighth frame for the Reddies with a pinch-hit single. After Evans flew out to second, Mayall was hit by a pitch and the Johnson followed with his fourth hit of the game to score Roberts with the go-ahead run.
Taylor then drove in Henderson's eighth run with his third hit of the game to score Mayall.
Nick Vanthillo would pitch the final 2 1/3 innings to pick up the win in a relief role for his first win of the year.
The Reddies totaled nine hits with Johnson going 4-for-5 with two runs batted in and three runs scored, while Taylor was 3-for-5 with a RBI.
In the night cap, Arkansas Tech took a 1-0 lead before the Reddies put up three runs in the top of the third-inning.
The inning began with Andy Reynolds reaching on a walk and advancing to third when Evans laced a double down the right field line.
Mayall then drove in both runs and advanced to second on a single to centerfield to put Henderson on top 2-1.
With two outs,
Lance Fields smacked a double to centerfield to score Mayall.
Tech would tie the score with two runs in the bottom of the third before the Reddies regained the lead in the sixth-inning when Evans scored on a wild pitch.
Evans reached on a fielder's choice then advanced to third when Mayall singled to left field. Evans would then score on Ryan Vruggink wild pitch to give HSU a 4-3 advantage.
Henderson would then put up four runs in the seventh-inning with the help of singles by Lessenberry, Fields and
Tadarious Hawkins and a two-run single to centerfield by Evans to make the score 8-3.

Luke Tebbetts entered the game for the Reddies on the mound and retired the side in order to preserve the win for
Cody Jones.
Mayall had three of Henderson's 11 hits, while Lessenberry, Fields and Evans had two hits each.
The two teams will play the finale of the series on Sunday at Noon.
