Box Score Henderson State belted out 13 hits as the Reddies won their third straight game beating Tarleton State 8-0, Saturday at the Houston Winter Baseball Invitational at Minute Maid Park.

The Reddies, 3-0 on the season, are the only team unbeaten in the six-team event.

Henderson State struck quickly scoring a pair of runs in the top half of the first-inning as
Hayden Lessenberry clubbed a two-run single to center field. Lessenberry plated
Hunter Mayall who was hit by a pitch to lead off the game and
Claude Johnson who smacked a double to left field.

Johnson made the score 3-0 in the second-inning with a single to center field that scored
Andrew Reynolds. Reynolds reached on a single of his own and advanced to second when Mayall was again hit by a pitch.

The score was 4-0 after the Reddies manufactured a run in the third as Henderson benefitted from two Tarleton State errors.

The Reddies loaded the bases in the top half of the seventh as Lessenberry,
Lance Fields, and
AJ Kruzel all singled. However, Henderson was only able score a single run when Brackhahn grounded into a double-play which scored Lessenberry.

Tarleton State, 2-1 on the year, loaded the bases in the bottom half of the seventh, but relief pitcher
Jordan Taylor struck out Peter McMahon and was able to get Evan Robinson to fly out to left field to end the Statesmen threat.

After Taylor got the Reddies out of a jam in the previous inning, Henderson went to work at the plate in the eighth scoring a pair of runs to make the score 7-0.

With two outs, Mayall singled to left field and then Johnson hit his second home run of the tournament with a blast down the left field line.

Henderson would score another run in the ninth as Fields led off with a double to left field and scored on an
Ashton Roberts single.
Cody Jones went 6 1/3 innings on the mound, striking out three batters to pick up the win.
Jordan Taylor went 1 1/3 innings fanning three batters, with
Dylan McCain closing out the game pitching the final inning.
Brackhahn continued to have a big weekend going 3-for-4, while Johnson continues his impressive weekend as well having three hits with 3 RBI, 2 runs scored a double and a home run.
Lessenberry, Fields, and Kruzel had two hits each.
Brackhahn has gone 8-for-13 in the three games while Johnson is 7-for-16 in the tournament having three doubles, two home runs and 6 RBI.
For the tournament, the Reddies have a team .363 batting average and a .460 slugging percentage while averaging 8 runs per game.
The Reddie pitchers have been equally impressive posting a 2.00 earned run average, allowing just 15 hits while striking out 14 batters.
Henderson State will finish the tournament on Sunday with a 2 p.m. meeting with Winona State.
