Box Score Delta State took advantage of nine walks given up by Henderson State pitchers to beat the Reddies 17-2, Tuesday in Cleveland, Miss.
The States men scored all of their runs in the middle three innings including seven runs in the sixth.
Henderson State, 22-16 on the year, took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth-inning as
Will Powell hit a two-out, RBI single to left to score
Hayden Lessenberry who led off the inning with a single.
Delta State loaded the bases to start the bottom of the fourth and would later get a three-run home run by Brandon Cummins to put the Statesmen up 4-1.
The Statesmen took a commanding 10-1 lead with a six-run fifth inning with Ethan Gill's two-run home run to left, jumpstarting the frame.
Delta State scored seven times in the sixth taking advantage of three hit batters and a pair of walks.
Henderson State kept scratching and scored its second run of the game in the top of the ninth off reliever Westin Stringer, as Powell scored from third on a throwing error by Dalton Skelton.
The Reddies used five pitchers on the day, as

Hayden Daniel (0.1),
Josh Henderson (2.0), and
Nick Vanthillo (1.0) worked in relief of starter
Luke Tebbetts. Tebbetts (2-5) was saddled with the loss after giving up six runs on four hits in 4.0 innings.
The Reddies will next take on Ouachita Baptist in a three game Great American Conference series beginning Friday at 3 p.m. at Rab Rodgers Field.
