Henderson State received its first ever NCAA postseason berth as the Reddies earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Central Region in St. Cloud, Minn.
The Reddies, 27-19, finished as the Great American Conference Tournament runners-up, and will enter the postseason tournament as the No. 6 seed playing host No. 1 seed St. Cloud State on Thursday.
A strong non-conference schedule which included wins over Central Missouri, Winona State, Tarleton State, and Arkansas Tech along with GAC series wins over Southern Arkansas, Ouachita Baptist, and ATU had an impact on Henderson's at-large bid.
The Reddies also benefited from playing 36 road games opposed to just 10 home games.
The NCAA Central Region includes Minnesota State, Emporia State, Missouri Southern, and Southern Arkansas along with the Reddies and the Huskies.
St. Cloud State has a 50-3 record and is ranked No. 1 nationally in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll. The Huskies have won 21 straight games entering NCAA Region play.
Game times and a complete schedule of the tournament will be released Monday afternoon.
All Henderson State games will be broadcast on ESPN 106.9 along with live stats and live video also available through the HSU athletics website at www.hsusports.com.
