Chris Hunt propelled Henderson State to a 4-3 win over Ouachita Baptist at the Great American Conference Baseball Championships in Enid, Okla.
Henderson State, 26-17 on the season, is the lone team unbeaten in the tournament.
The Reddies took a 1-0 lead in the first-inning as
Claude Johnson collected his fifth hit of the tournament when he doubled to center field.
Johnson would advance to third on a
Jordan Taylor single and score on a sacrifice fly by
Lance Fields.
The Tigers would tie the score at 1-1 in the third-inning, but the Reddies regained the lead in the fourth as Rodriguez delivered his second home run of the tournament.
The senior from Brownsville, Texas smacked a Connor Reed pitch over the left field fence also scoring
Conner Brackhahn who walked earlier in the inning.
The Reddies would make the score 4-1 in the fifth-inning as Fields singled and later scored on a Tripp Cecil wild pitch.
OBU, 25-16 on the year, would score two unearned runs in the eighth-inning benefitting from two Reddie errors.
Taylor would enter the game in the eighth-inning in relief of Reddie starting pitcher
Chris Hunt. Taylor would strike out the last two batters in the inning to end the Tiger rally.
Nick Vanthillo would pitch the ninth for the Reddies and retire the Tigers in order to collect his 10th save of the season.
Hint would pick up the win to improve to 5-3 on the year. The sophomore from Bryant, Ark. worked 7 1/3 innings, surrendering five hits while striking out three batters to get the win.
Henderson State outhit OBU having nine hits compared to the Tigers' five safeties.
Taylor went 3-for-4 to lead the Reddies with Johnson having two hits.
The Reddies will next play the winner of the Southern Arkansas/OBU game at 7 p.m. on Monday with the right to play in the GAC Championship on Tuesday.
