Henderson State Women Roll To 88-69 Win Over Southern Nazarene

Haleigh Henson scored a game-high 20 points while Hailey Estes and Bree Bossier both had double-doubles to lead Henderson State to an 88-69 Great American Conference win over Southern Nazarene at the Duke Wells Center in Arkadelphia, Ark. Thursday night.

Henson hit 4-of-6 three-point field goals to move into second all-time in career 3-pointers made at Henderson.

Estes scored 15 points to go along with 10 rebounds and 7 assists, while Bossier had 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Torrie Thompson tied her career-high with 17 points making 5-of-7 from beyond the arc, with Pink Jones adding 10 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists.

Lexi Weber just missed recording a double-double having 11 rebounds and 8 points.  

Playing on their home floor for the first time this season, the Reddies exploded in the first quarter building a 29-10 lead.

Henderson hit 7-of-11 3-point field goals in the quarter with Thompson knocking down all four of her attempts, while Estes hit 2-of-3 treys.

Southern Nazarene struggled with the Henderson defense making just 3-of-18 attempts for 17 percent shooting.

Southern Nazarene, playing its first game of the year, outscored Henderson in the second quarter 22-12 to cut the deficit to 41-32 at the break.
The Reddies committed six turnovers in the quarter and shot just 33 percent. Henderson failed to make a 3-point goal in the quarter on six attempts.

Henderson would control the second-half outscoring Southern Nazarene 47 to 37 while dominating the boards 26 to 14.

The Reddies finished the night shooting 46.4 percent from the field converting on 32-of-69 attempts while the Crimson Storm hit on 23-of-72 shots from the field for 31.9 percent shooting.

Henderson State will next play host to Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday with tipoff set for 1 p.m. in the Duke Wells Center.
