Despite 13 points from both 
Haleigh Henson and 
Torrie Thompson, and 11 from 
Brittany Branum, the Henderson State women's basketball team fell 61-58 to Rogers State on Saturday afternoon in Claremore, Oklahoma.
In the first quarter the Reddies ran out to a 12-7 lead with 4:54 remaining the period, but the Hillcats answered with a 12-2 run to close the quarter up 19-14. RSU extended their lead to 29-18 with 4:12 remaining in the half, but Henderson rallied in the final four minutes with a 10-3 spurt to cut the halftime deficit to 31-28.
At the start of the third quarter the Hillcats went on another run, putting together ten-straight points to open up a 41-30 advantage. The Reddies would again claw their way back into the game, using a 17-6 run to tie the game at 47-47 before ultimately entering the final period down 49-47.
The fourth was a battle all the way to the end. Henderson took the lead 54-51 with 7:05 to go on a 3-pointer by Thompson and held it until the 1:45 mark, when Natasha Kindred of RSU made a layup to put the Hillcats up 59-58, and then sank two free throws with 19 seconds remaining to put them up 61-58. With one last chance and needing a 3-pointer, the Reddies drew up a play and got a 3-point look for Henson with four seconds left, and despite contact on the shot, there was no foul called and the Hillcats escaped with a 61-58 victory.
It was a tough shooting game for the highest-scoring team in the Great American Conference, as Henderson was held to 32 percent shooting from the field and was just 7 of 34 from behind the 3-point line. 
Bree Bossier led the Reddies in rebounding with eight, while 
Pink Jones led the team in assists with four. Henderson won the turnover battle with the Hillcats 20-14. The loss drops HSU to 4-5 on the year, with all five losses coming outside of conference play.
The Reddies' next game is Saturday, Dec. 17 in the Duke Wells Center against Texas A&M-Commerce at 2 p.m.
