Henderson State will attempt to end a four-game losing skid as the Reddies play host to Hendrix College on Tuesday with the first pitch set for 6 p.m. at Clyde Berry Field.
The Reddies are coming off a series in which they dropped three games to Arkansas-Monticello. As a team, Henderson hit for a .222 average against the Boll Weevils and totaled seven runs.
Henderson, 11-16 on the season, will try and get the offense on track before its three-game series with Southern Arkansas which begins on Friday.
The Reddies are hitting .249 collectively for the season while averaging 4.25 runs per contest.
Jordan Taylor is leading the way with a .302 average including 12 runs batted in. Taylor went 4-for-10 last weekend against UAM. Henderson has managed just five home runs this season with Taylor having a pair of round-trippers.
Tadarious Hawkins and Jake Gaul follow hitting .293, while
AJ Kruzel has a .292 average to go along with a team best seven doubles.
The Reddies will work out several pitchers including
Blake Patterson who has a 1-3 record with a 3.28 earned run average. Patterson has struck out 28 batters in 24.2 innings of work.
Hendrix enters the contest with a 12-10 record and have won five of its last six games.
The Warriors offensively have combined for a .282 average with Tanner Cooper leading the team hitting .413 with a team-best 21 RBI.
Jorge Leon follows at .391 with 11 RBI, while Drew Judson is hitting .347.
The Warriors pitching staff has a combined 5.06 earned run average. Opponents have posted a .298 average and are averaging 6.1 runs per contest.
