HSU Baseball On The Road In Oklahoma To Face SWOSU

Henderson State will travel to Weatherford, Okla. for a three-game Great American Conference series against Southwestern Oklahoma beginning Friday at 2 p.m.

The Reddies, 15-17 overall and 10-8 in the GAC have won four of their last five games and are fifth in the conference standings.
SWOSU enters the series 18-10 overall and 10-5 in league play sitting in third-place.

AJ Kruzel leads the Reddies hitting .310 on the year which includes going 7-for-17 in the last five games. The senior from Cincinnati, Ohio has a team-best .451 slugging percentage and has driven in 16 runs on the year.

Tadarious Hawkins has bolstered his average to .306 which includes going 8-for-20 in the last seven games. The senior from Commerce, Texas leads the Reddies in GAC contests with a .333 average while stealing a GAC best 19 bases.

Luke McGuire has also given the Reddies an extra boost since entering the starting lineup last weekend against Southern Arkansas. McGuire is hitting .364 on the season (8-for-22) and has been solid defensively in leftfield.

Luke Tebbetts will make his 10th start of the season on the mound for the Reddies. Tebbetts has a 3.15 earned run average to go along with his 2-2 record on the season.

The junior from Winnsboro, Texas has struck out 40 batters in 54 innings of work.

Chris Hunt is scheduled to start game the first game on Saturday. The junior from Greenwood, Ark. has a 4.97 ERA in 54 1/3 innings this season.

Zach Eschberger is set to pitch the finale. The freshman southpaw is 5-3 on the year which includes a 5-1 record against GAC opponents. A product of Bullard, Texas, Eschberger has a 4.14 ERA in 50 innings.

Freshmen Blake Patterson and Kris Priddy have given the Reddie pitching staff some solid innings this season and will also see action this weekend.

Priddy has worked 29 innings and has a 2-0 record with a 2.48 ERA, while Patterson is 2-3 with a 2.56 ERA to go along with 34 punch-outs in 31 innings.

The Bulldogs are second in the GAC offensively with a .290 team average which includes 48 doubles and 16 home runs.

Korbin Polston and Zach Barton lead the SWOSU offense with Polston ranking fifth in the league and Barton sixth.

Polston has a .357 average with a team-best 29 runs batted in and five home runs, while Barton is hitting .356 with 16 RBI.
The Bulldog pitching staff is third in the league with a 4.16 ERA.

Jon Chidester is set to start the opener, with Gunner Cook and Devin Ring pitching Saturday.

Chidester is 5-2 on the season with a solid 2.15 ERA. In 50 innings on the bump, Chidester has record 34 strikeouts while limiting opponents a .200 batting average.

Cook is also 5-2 with a 3.86 ERA, while Ring is 2-3 while sporting a 5.29 ERA.
