Henderson State will make its final Great American Conference road trip of the season as the Reddies travel to Bethany, Okla. for a three-game series against Southern Nazarene with a double-header set for 1 p.m. Friday.
The Reddies, 20-19 overall and 14-10 in the GAC have won their last four games and are currently fifth in the conference standings.
The Henderson offense has picked up the pace in the last five games as the Reddies hit .333 as a team and averaged 11 hits per game in those contests. For the season, Henderson is hitting .255 as a club including a .274 average in GAC play.
Jake Gaul and
Hunter Mayall have been the most productive players in the Reddies line up recently. Gaul has gone 7-for-14 in the last five games, while Mayall is 8 for his last 17.
Luke McGuire leads the team overall with a .318 average, while Gaul is hitting .313 on the year.
Jordan Taylor has improved his average to .311 and has some solid power numbers with 11 doubles, 4 home runs for a .500 slugging percentage.
The Reddie rotation for the weekend will include
Luke Tebbetts pitching the opener with
Zach Eschberger pitching game two.
Tebbetts is 3-2 on the year with a 3.03 earned run average. The junior from Winnsboro, Texas has struck out 45 batters in 68.1 innings of work with opponents having a .232 batting average.
Eschberger is 6-4 on the year which includes a 6-2 record against GAC opponents. The freshman from Bullard, Texas has worked 60.0 innings this year with a 4.35 ERA.
Chris Hunt is scheduled to pitch the finale on Saturday. The junior from Greenwood, Ark. picked up his first win of the season last weekend against Northwestern Oklahoma. Hunt has a 4.90 ERA in 64.1 innings having record 52 strikeouts.
The Crimson Storm enters the series with an 8-31 record overall and 5-19 in league play.
Offensively SNU is hitting .267 collectively with Anthony Wiggins leading the way hitting .336 on the year. Wiggins has compiled a team best seven doubles, six home runs and 27 RBI.
The SNU pitching staff has struggled this season with the club having a 7.72 earned run average with opponents having a .339 average.
Mason Pinion is set to start the opener, with Jacob Spruill pitching game two and Mike Descisciolo pitching Saturday.
Pinion is 0-8 on the season with a 7.36 ERA, while Spruill is also winless with a 7.54 ERA.
Descisciolo enters with a 1-4 record and a 9.27 ERA,
