Reddies Embark On Longest Road Trip of The Year.

GAME NOTES VS. SWOSU

Henderson State will take its longest road trip of the season as the No. 8 ranked Reddies will travel to Weatherford, Okla. to face Southwestern Oklahoma with kickoff slated for 6 p.m. at ASAP Energy Field.
 
Henderson is riding a 12-game conference winning streak dating back to a year ago, while the Bulldogs have dropped all three games this year including a 48-28 setback last week at Ouachita Baptist.          
           
Henderson enters the contest ranked fourth in the GAC in total offense averaging 440.7 yards per game, with the defense is allowing 302.7 yards per contest which also leads the league.

Andrew Black had a career game last week against Northwestern completing 20-of-26 passes for a career-best 345 yards. The sophomore from Tyler, Texas has completed 67 percent of his passes this season (50-of-75) and has totaled 649 yards for an average of 216 yards per game.
 
Black is also a threat to run the football having carried the pigskin 29 times for 155 yards including 104 yards on 14 attempts against East Central.
 
Jeremy Wilson leads Henderson's ground game averaging 74.3 yards per game which ranks ninth in the league.  Last week against Northwestern Oklahoma, the freshman from Tyler, Texas carried the ball nine times for 103 yards while scoring three touchdowns.  
 
Jaquan Cole follows Wilson and ranks 10th in the GAC averaging 65.3 yards per contest. The 2015 GAC Offensive Player of the Year has 196 total yards on 40 carries for an average of 4.9 yards per attempt. The senior from Duncanville, Texas needs just 16 yards to become the ninth player in HSU history to eclipse 2000 yards in a career.                     
Henderson's defense leads the league in turnovers with 11 including six fumble recoveries ranking secoond nationally. The Reddies have totaled 28 tackles for lost yardage including 12 sacks.
           
Cameron Sonnier leads the defensive unit with 25 tackles while Dondre Wright has 17 stops to go along with a sack, interception and a pass breakup.   
 
Sam Johnson has been a force at his defensive end position with 11 stops including a team-best four tackles for lost yardage.         

5526Sheldon Watson has come up big in the secondary having 13 tackles, two interceptions and a 44-yard scoop-and-score last week against NWOSU.
The Bulldogs average 371.3 yards of offense per game after being limited to a season-low 74 rushing yards on 27 attempts against Ouachita.
 
Marc Evans handles the quarterback duties for SWOSU. The senior from Ventura, Calif. has completed 54-of-113 passes for 678 yards on the year. Last week against OBU, Evans threw for a season-high 287 yards on 21-of-39 completions.
 
Karltrell Henderson is the third-leading rusher in the GAC with 297 yards (99.0 ypg) and five touchdowns on the season, giving him 1,164 yards and 16 rushing touchdowns at SWOSU.
 
With six receptions for 79 yards and one touchdown at Ouachita, D.J. Jones ranks third in the GAC with 16 receptions for 319 yards to date.

Derrick Styles caught a career-high eight passes for 112 yards against Ouachita, moving him to second on the team with 14 receptions on the year.
 
SWOSU's offensive line allowed their first sack of the season at Ouachita, but they remain tied with Harding for the fewest in the league with one.
 
Last week SWOSU surrendered 560 yards of total offense and is now ranked seventh in the GAC in total defense allowing 411.3 yards per game while allowing 34.7 points per game.
 
Austin Loomis finished one tackle off his career high at Ouachita with 11 stops, giving him 30 for the year, a number ranking him second on the team and fifth in the GAC.

Southwestern Oklahoma and Henderson State meet for the ninth time in a series which dates back to 1933. Henderson leads the all-time series 6-2 after last year's 33-0 win in Arkadelphia. The Reddies have won four straight against the Bulldogs and five of the last six games. The Bulldogs last beat the Reddies on September 17, 2011 in Arkadelphia by a score of 17-13.

In addition, affiliates 99.7 FM in Hot Springs, 93.3 FM and 690 AM in Benton, Ark., and 920 AM The Sports Animal in Little Rock will also carry the game. The Henderson State Sports Network will be also available on-line at hsusports.com.

The broadcast team of Phil Elson, RJ Hawk and Kevin Rodgers will call all the action of Reddies football with the Domino's Pregame Show set for 5 p.m.
