Reddies Travel South to Face UAM

Henderson State will play its final two games on the road beginning Saturday when the Reddies travel to Monticello, Ark. to Arkansas-Monticello with kickoff slated for 3 p.m.        

The Reddies will be attempting to win for the sixth consecutive time in Monticello. Henderson's last loss at Cotton Boll Stadium was a 46-14 setback in 2000. UAM will be looking to win its fourth straight home game.
 
Arkansas-Monticello and Henderson State meet for the 80th time in a series which dates back to 1914. The Reddies lead the series 47-30-2. Henderson has won the last seven meetings and 10 of the last 11. The Reddies are 5-0 against UAM in GAC games and have outscored the Weevils 243 to 48 in those contests. Coach Scott Maxfield is 10-1 all-time against UAM with the lone loss being a 51-48 setback in 2008.
           
Last week, Henderson scored 22 fourth quarter points to rally from behind and knock off Southern Arkansas 36-30. The Reddies limited one of the top offensive teams in the league to just 341 yards of offense.
 
Evan Lassiter put together another solid performance completing 16-of-24 passes for 213 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The senior from Coral Springs, Fla. has totaled 1687 yards on the year and has completed 63 percent of his passes. Lassiter needs just 49 yards to become the fifth Reddie in school history to eclipse the 3000-yard mark.
 
Blake Faulk and Cecil Langston handled the ground game last week with Faulk having 75 yards on 15 attempts, while Langston carried the ball 12 times for 50 yards. Faulk has a season total of 367 yards on 66 carries with three scores. Meanwhile, Langston has ran with the pigskin 46 times for 211 yards.
 
Ben Johnson had two catches last week, both for touchdowns. The junior from Sapulpa, Okla. has caught 31 passes for a team best 408 yards.

Last week, Andrew Black caught four balls for 40 yards. In the last two weeks, the senior from Tyler, Texas has been utilized as a receiver and has 11 catches for 106 yards.
 
Henderson's defense is allowing 348.6 yards per game while limiting opponents to 189.11 passing yards per contest.    

Sam Johnson led the Reddie charge against SAU with seven tackles including two for lost yardage. The senior from Sapulpa, Okla. has totaled 41 tackles on the year including 13.5 tackles for lost yardage along with 5.5 sacks.     
 
Cameron Sonnier leads Henderson in total tackles with 48. The junior from Webster, Texas had a career-high 14 tackles last year against UAM.  

Arkansas-Monticello enters Saturday's contest with a 5-4 record after a 55-21 loss at Ouachita Baptist last week.
 
Offensively, the Boll Weevils lead the GAC in total offense by averaging 472.3 yards per contest while scoring 37.6 points per contest which ranks third in the league.        

UAM is led by one of the premier quarterbacks in the league in Cole Sears. The junior from Hoxie, Ark. leads the conference in total offense (295.3 ypg) while averaging 252.2 passing yards per game. Sears has collected 25 touchdown strikes and has completed 152-of-268 passes for a 56.7 completion percentage.     
 
Sears is also a threat to run the ball having 388 rushing yards with seven touchdown rushes to his credit. In 2016 against the Reddies, Sears completed 31-of-47 passes for 264 yards.
 
Imani Riley leads the UAM ground attack averaging 62.4 yards per game. The junior from Monticello has totaled 499 yards on 91 carries with 3 touchdowns.
Sophomore Deountario Brown follows with 404 yards on 85 attempts. Brown totaled 53 yards on 15 carries a year ago against the Reddies.
 
Jalen Tolliver is the most productive receiver in the GAC averaging a league best 98.7 yards per game while totaling 13 touchdowns. The senior from Rayville, La. earned Honorable Mention All-American last year after having 1090 receiving yards.
 
Defensively, UAM leads the league in pass defense allowing just 178.3 yards per contest. The Boll Weevils allow 388.2 yards per game while recording 49 tackles for lost yardage and 14 turnovers.           

The Boll Weevils are led by Christian Jefferson who has 56 tackles on the year. Wesley Williams follows with 54 stops, while Anthony Walker has 31 tackles including a team-best 9.5 tackles for lost yardage along with 5.0 sacks.
 
The Henderson State Sports Network will broadcast Saturday's game with 106.9 FM KYXK in Arkadelphia being the flagship station.

In addition, affiliates 99.7 FM KWPS which covers Hot Springs, as well as 100.9 KDEL in Arkadelphia and KZYP 1310 AM and 104.1 FM in Malvern. The game can also be heard on 920 AM, The Sports Animal in Little Rock.

The broadcast team of Phil Elson, RJ Hawk and Cyrus Wittig will call all the action of Reddies football with the Domino's Pregame Show set for 2 p.m.
