Henderson State begins Great American Conference play as the Reddies play host to Southern Nazarene in a three-game baseball series beginning Friday at 6 p.m. at Clyde Berry Field.

The two teams will play a double-header on Saturday with the first pitch for game one set for noon.

Henderson State will be attempting to win its first conference championship since 1982 when the Reddies claimed the Arkansas Intercollegiate Conference title.

The Reddies, 5-2 on the season, have one of the top pitching teams in the league as Henderson has a collective 3.13 earned run average which ranks second in the GAC.
Reddie hurlers have struck out 54 batters this season and have limited opponents to a .211 batting average, second in the GAC.

Henderson's weekend rotation will include
Luke Tebbetts getting the nod in the opener, with
Chris Hunt and
Bryant Haralson starting on Saturday.

Tebbetts is 1-0 on the season with a 4.15 ERA. The senior right-hander from Winnsboro, Texas opened the season with a win over Pittsburg State in a game where he gave up one run on five hits in seven innings of work.

Hunt is 1-1 after a tough loss to No. 3 Central Missouri last week. The senior right-hander from Greenwood, Ark. leads the team in strikeouts with 16 including a career-best 9 punch-outs in the season opener against Arkansas-Fort Smith.

Haralson has been stellar in the two games he's worked this season. The junior right-hander from Atkins, Ark. is 2.0 on the year and has not allowed a run in 10 innings of work.

Haralson earned GAC Pitcher of the Week honors this past Monday for his performance against Nebraska-Kearney. In his first start, Haralson struck out 11 batters in recording a 7-0 victory over the Lopers.
Offensively the Reddies are hitting .244 while averaging 6.0 runs per game.

Parker Jones and
Joe Myers are both hitting for a .333 average to lead the team.
Â
Jones has gone 11-for-33 this season which includes three doubles, a home run and five runs batted in.
Â
Myers is 9-for-27 with three doubles and a pair of RBI.

Southern Nazarene enters the weekend 0-8 on the year.

The Crimson Storm pitching rotation includes Austin Cooper, David Gustafson and Cody Tolbert.
Â
Cooper is 0-1 in the year with a 4.91 ERA, while Gustafson has a 6.57 ERA in 12 1/3 innings of work. Tolbert has made two starts and is 0-1 with a 9.64 ERA.

SNU has a team batting average of .261 led by Mike Descisciolo who has a stout .440 average with 5 home runs, 11 RBI and a 1.080 slugging percentage.

Jeff Harris follows with a .400 average which includes a pair of doubles and a home run.
