Henderson State's three-game Great American Conference baseball series with Harding in Searcy, Ark., has been pushed back to Saturday and Sunday due to the heavy rains on Wednesday and early Thursday in the White County area.
The series was originally set to begin with a single game Friday evening and a double-header Saturday. Poor field conditions have forced officials to push the games back to a Saturday/Sunday series. Game times will be announced on Friday following assessment of the conditions at Jerry Moore Field.
Henderson, 8-6 overall and 4-2 in league play, is coming off a 9-3 non-conference win on Tuesday against Ouachita Baptist.
The Reddies are looking to be more productive offensively as the team is hitting .238 while having a .299 team slugging percentage.
Jordan Harris leads the team with a .317 average, having gone 13-for-41 with seven runs batted in.
Brandon Pollock went 4-for-4 against OBU on Tuesday, and has elevated his batting average to .298. The Reddie leadoff hitter is 17-for-57 on the year with nine runs scored and a team-best 9 RBI.
Bryant Haralson,
Zach Eschberger and
Kris Priddy are part of the weekend rotation for Henderson.
Haralson is 2-1 on the year with a 3.60 ERA. The senior from Atkins leads the team in strikeouts with 29 in 30 innings of work.
Eschberger recorded a complete-game win last week against Oklahoma Baptist in a game that saw the left-hander record a career-high 10 strikeouts.
The junior from Bullard, Texas is 2-1 this season and sports a 2.96 ERA. Eschberger has worked 24.1 innings on the mound and has fanned 25 batters.
Priddy also enters with a 2-1 record after suffering his first loss of the year last week against Oklahoma Baptist. The junior from Terrell, Texas has a 6.54 ERA but has totaled 15 punch-outs in 19 innings.
Harding, 5-9 overall and 1-5 in GAC play, has a team .217 batting average and is led by Chris Taylor who is hitting .360 including a team-best five doubles and 20 runs batted in.
The Bison pitching staff has a 7.07 combined earned run average with opponents hitting .321 for the year.
Harding's pitching rotation includes Austin Allen, Tanner Smith and Reed Roberts.
Allen has worked 21.2 innings and has a 1-3 record with a 3.74 ERA.
Smith is 2-2 on the year and has a 3.27 ERA. The junior from Symsonia, Kentucky has 14 strikeouts in 22 innings on the bump.
Roberts has been the game three starter during conference play for the Bisons and is 0-2 on the year with losses to Northwestern Oklahoma and Southwestern Oklahoma.
