Henderson State returns home following an eight-game road swing as the Reddies play host to No. 25 Southern Arkansas in a key three-game Great American Conference series beginning with a double-header on Saturday at Clyde Berry Field with the first pitch set for 2 p.m.

The series features a Mulerider team that is second in the GAC standings with a 23-9 overall record and a 16-5 mark in league play, while the third-place Reddies enter the series 21-12 on the year and 15-6 in the GAC.

The Reddies have won eight of their last 11 games and will play 13 of their last 16 games at home to close out the regular-season.

Henderson is coming off a 6-3 win over Union University on Wednesday in a game that saw head coach
Cody Hooten record his 200
th career win.

Offensively Henderson has a team batting average of .262. In the last 10 games, the Reddies compiled a team average of .301 including a .450 slugging percentage.

Caleb Carr has been the hot hitter as of late going 14-for-32 in the last 10 games posting a .438 average. During that span, Carr has totaled three triples, a double and eight runs batted in. For the season, the freshman from White Hall, Ark. is hitting .368 including a .471 on base percentage.

Jordan Harris is batting .355 with a team-best 11 doubles to go along with four home runs and 20 RBI, while
Daniel Colasanto has compiled a .327 average since working his way into the starting lineup a month ago. The sophomore from Garland, Texas is hitting .400 against conference foes, going 14-for-35 at the plate.
Zack Gray leads the team in home runs with six and runs batted in with 26 while having a .265 average. All six home runs have come against league opponents.

The Henderson pitching staff ranks third in the GAC with a team earned run average of 4.75.

Bryant Haralson will make his 10
th start of the season in the series opener. The senior from Atkins, Ark. has a 5-2 record with a 3.68 earned run average. Haralson has totaled 175 strikeouts in his two seasons which ties him for fifth in HSU history.

Daniel Sprinkle and
Zach Eschberger are also part of the weekend rotation.
Sprinkle is 3-2 on the year with a 3.21 ERA. The junior from Pine Bluff has limited opponents to a .236 batting average while recording 27 punch-outs in 47.2 innings of work.

Eschberger is also 5-2 on the year including a 5-1 record in GAC play. The junior from Bullard, Texas sports a 3.62 ERA and is second on the team in strikeouts with 43 in 54.2 innings.
Southern Arkansas has won eight of their last nine games including seven straight over league opponents.

As a team, the Muleriders have a .280 team batting average while scoring 7.4 runs per game.

Five players are swinging at .300 or better including Jacob Richardson who leads the club with a .364 average including a stout .669 slugging percentage. Richardson leads the team in home runs (9) and runs batted in (40).

Jake Tisevich follows owning a .354 average with a team-high 12 doubles along with 22 RBI.

On the mound, Southern Arkansas has been led by a trio of senior arms that have helped the Muleriders post the lowest team ERA in the GAC at 4.35.

Left-hander Kenneth Tabor owns a league-best seven wins to go along with a league-low 1.94 ERA in 46.1 innings pitched. Tabor has struck out 49 batters and opponents are hitting just .141 against him.

Hunter Vasquez has compiled a 5-1 record with three complete games. His 2.58 ERA ranks second in the GAC, with his 72 strikeouts in 52.1 innings pitched leads the league.

Jacob Stroder has collected six wins for the Muleriders this spring and his 62 strikeouts are the league's fourth-most. Stroder enters the weekend with a 4.03 ERA. Â

Since 2012, when the two programs became charter members of the Great American Conference, Southern Arkansas owns a 22-11 record against the Reddies. Henderson has won six straight games over SAU at Clyde Berry Field including four in GAC Tournament play.
