ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Henderson State Red Wave celebrated Senior Day with a dual meet victory over the University of the Ozarks Eagles, dominating both the men's and women's competitions. The women raced by the Eagles 135-66 and the men took care of business 135-50.
In the first event of the day, the women took the top two spots on the podium in the 200-yard medley relay. The foursome of
Camryn Jenkins,
Savannah Martin,
Lauren Glenn and
Mikayla Wood finished first with a time of 1:56.46, as the squad made up of
Eleonora Unanova,
Elam Fulton,
Taylor Viator, and
Jordan Adkins took second in a time of 1:57.12. In the last women's event of the afternoon,
Jordan Adkins,
Elam Fulton,
Aubry Owen, and
Caroline Beattie teamed up to win the 200-yard freestyle in 1:45.97.
Individual winners for the Women's squad included Martin in the 200-yard freestyle (2:07.20), Wood in the 50-yard freestyle (25.81),
Caroline Beattie in the 200-yard medley (2:24.77),
Ceci Magnani in the 100-yard butterfly (1:05.19), and
Lara Kockaya in the 500-yard freestyle (5:59.10). Unanova won the 100-yard freestyle in 55.77 and the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.28.
The men followed up with a first place finish in the same event, as the team of
Payton Jones,
Bogdan Pochynok,
Tom Nguyen, and
Marshal Leach clocked a time of 1:41.08 for the top spot. After the Reddies' relay set the tone, the men dominated for the rest of the day.
First place finishes for the men's team included
Ben East in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:25.58),
Zach Hansen in the 200-yard medley (2:03.44), Pochynok in the 100-yard freestyle (49.14), Nguyen in the 100-yard backstroke (56.40),
Stephen Jones in the 500-yard freestyle (4:59.41) and
Garrett Sullivan in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.42).
Caleb Murders won two events, taking the top spot in the 50-yard freestyle (21.15) and 100-yard butterfly (53.27).
The Red Wave's next meet will take place at Ouachita Baptist on Jan. 25 at 6 p.m.
