ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Following a come from behind, walk-off win over Union University on Wednesday, the Reddies look to take that momentum on the road when they face Oklahoma Baptist in their second Great American Conference away series in as many weeks.
Henderson State will face the Bison in a single game on Friday at 2 p.m. before an afternoon doubleheader at noon on Saturday.
REDDIES REPORT
- On Wednesday, HSU was down 3-2 heading into the bottom of the ninth before the Reddies notched three singles in a row to load the bases in the final frame. With one out,
Brandon Pollock ripped a single through the left side as
Ryan Wieligman and
Caleb Carr came around to score the game-winning runs and give the Reddies a 4-3 win.
- As a team, HSU is batting .267 with a commendable on-base percentage of .386. However, the Reddies have struggled to hit for power, carrying a combined slugging percentage of .350 with three home runs through 14 contests.
- Pollock and
Joseph Shepherd have established themselves as senior leaders, as well as tough outs at the top of the Reddies lineup. Heading into the weekend, the duo has combined to hit .323 and is responsible for 21 of the Reddies' 69 RBIs.
- Since being inserted into the starting lineup,
Daniel Colasanto has given HSU a boost. The junior has been tearing the cover off the ball, batting .471 with a .591 on-base percentage in five starts.
- Henderson has gotten solid relief pitching from
Jon Youngblood and
Kris Priddy. Youngblood has accumulated a 3.09 ERA in six appearances from the pen, while Priddy has racked up a 3.18 ERA. Priddy has not given up an earned run in his last 4.2 innings, and was brilliant against Union, throwing 17 of his 20 pitches for strikes while striking out three.

SCOUTING OKLAHOMA BAPTIST
- After an up-and-down start to the year, the Bison's bats exploded last week as OKBU swept Northwestern Oklahoma State in their second GAC series of 2019. OKBU punished NWOSU pitching, scoring 44 runs in the three-game set which pushed the Bison above .500 on the season.
- At 8-6 overall and 3-0 in the Great American Conference, OKBU is looking to build on a solid 2018 season which saw the Bison go 20-10 in conference play before being bounced in the NCAA Central Region Tournament by Central Oklahoma. The Bison were picked to finish second in the GAC preseason poll and have been a consistent conference threat since becoming a full-time member of the league in 2016.
- So far, the Bison have had no trouble replacing their two ABCA All-Region players Zane Gelphmann and Brett Berghammer, as 2018 First Team All-GAC honoree Jake Gozzo has continued to swing a hot stick, and leads the Bison with five home runs and 20 RBIs. Eleven of Gozzo's 16 hits in 2019 have been for extra bases.
- Oklahoma Baptist has received major contributions from P.J. Harris, Garrett Mckee, and Brock Carter. Combined, the trio is batting .395 with 11 home runs and 38 RBIs.
- The Reddies can expect to see Jacob Lipetzky on the rubber this weekend. The junior transfer from San Diego City College has made four starts for OKBU and is 1-1 with a 2.45 ERA. The right-hander has allowed opposing batters to hit just .145 when he is on the mound but has given up 17 walks in 18.1 innings pitched.
