NSISC DAY TWO RESULTS
CLEVELAND, Miss. – Henderson State men's and women's swimming teams continued the NSISC Championships on Thursday with multiple swimmers turning in strong times against top competition. After day two, the Red Wave men remain in second place with 382 points, while the women are in sixth with 143.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of
Stephen Jones,
Zach Hansen,
Ryan Brown, and
Tim Holt got the Red Wave men off to a flying start on Thursday, as the quartet combined to top the podium in 1:21.36.
The Red Wave rolled on to multiple individual successes throughout the day. The first came on a third-place finish in the 400-yard individual medley, when
Triston Little touched the wall in 4:01.08. Little has 31 points through two days.
Later on in event 15, Jones, who has a team-high 34 points scored, continued his outstanding week with a second-place effort in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 48.38.
Marcus Hernandez also finished fifth, touching the wall in 49.21.
Till Steyer picked up a top-two finish as well, finishing a tenth of a second behind the winner in the 20- yard freestyle with a time of 1:39.31. The Red Wave placed two in the Top-5, as
Ty Gibbs recorded a time of 1:40.85.
The men ended a successful day on a high note when the combination of Hernandez, Hansen,
Tim Morrow, and Holt took second in the 400-yard medley relay in 3:23.56.
On the women's side, the Red Wave saw most of their success come in the relays. In the day's first event, Henderson State's women got off to a strong start with a top-four finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as
Elam Fulton,
Isabelle Andrews,
Emily Chen, and
Amy Brandenburg combined to touch the wall in 1:36.33.
The Reddies' relay closed the day even stronger, as Brandenburg, Fulton, Andrews, and
Elza Kachliishvili finished third in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:55.34.
