FINAL RESULTS
ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – It was an emotional night inside Wells Natatorium as tonight marked the first Battle of the Ravine since the passing of the late Henderson Red Wave coach Coak Matthews. With HSU's Alumni Meet taking place tomorrow morning, Reddies past and present were in attendance.
Â
The occupants of Wells Natatorium were treated to a dominant performance on the men's side, 132-73, while the women were edged out ever so slightly, 113.5-104.5. In the course of the women falling by nine points, Ouachita earned 13 points in the diving events, of which Henderson has no divers on the team.
Â
The night started out rocking as Henderson got massive victories in both men's and women's 200 IM relays. The women's relay team of
Aimee Miller,
Jessica Bongfeldt,
Isabelle Andrews and Makenzie Kester took first with a time of 1:49.00 while the men occupied first and second place in their respective relay.
Â
Lamar Taylor,
Tim Holt,
Jase Pinckney and
Jason Seiner touched the wall first at 1:35.09 while the Red Wave's second-place team of
Marcus Hernandez,
Oscar Patten,
Stephen Jones and
Luis Guerrero-Del Toro finished at 1:36.28.
Â
The Red Wave men won the next four events, with
Jesse Walker winning his first meet of the season, topping the podium in the 1000 yard free (10:11.30), followed by
Patryk Dabrowski in the 200 free (1:43.48),
Tim Holt in the 50 free (21.32) and Jones in the 400 IM (4:10.44).
Â
Taylor, Dabrowski and Jones all saw individual wins on the night, taking first in the 100 backstroke (50.80), 500 free (4:50.44) and the 100 breaststroke (57.94), respectively. Patten also claimed an individual victory, touching the wall first in the 100 free (47.49.)
Â
The men won the final event of the night, putting the icing on the cake as the quartet of Dabrowski,
Tate Sloan, Seiner and Taylor took top honors in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:26.00 to complete their performance.
Â
The Red Wave women swept the relay races, taking first yet again in the 200 free relay with the grouping of
Kiara Pozvai,
Emily Chen, Kester and Miller finishing at 1:38.72. In addition to the relay victory, Pozvai also claimed the top spot in the 50 free (24.08).
Â
Pozvai was not done yet, however, as the freshman came through with another win, this time in the 100 free (52.63). Miller, after claiming two relay first-place finishes, got herself an individual first-place finish in the 400 IM (4:46.09).
Â
Chen and Bongfeldt finished the night for the Red Wave women, taking first in the 100 backstroke (1:00.61) and 100 breaststroke (1:08.31). On the night, the women wound up winning more events than OBU, yet due to the Tigers having two divers compared to HSU's zero, that event gave Ouachita the nod on the women's side.
Â
The Red Wave will return to the Wells Natatorium next month when Hendrix comes to take on Henderson Friday, November 12 at 5:30 p.m.
