Reddies Drop Weekend Series to Lady Bisons

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Henderson State dropped Saturday's doubleheader to the Harding Lady Bisons, 10-3 and 9-4, one day after HSU took HU to extras, eventually falling 3-2 in the tenth inning.

Kaitlyn O'Quinn saw four hits through the two games, while Monica Monreal had three hits. Mallory Brewer did the most work from the circle, registering four strikeouts while only giving up one walk on the day.

GAME ONE
The Reddies got on the board first as an Abbie Moore sac fly to right field scored O'Quinn to go up, 1-0. Henderson retained the one-point lead through the Lady Bisons' second at-bat, but failed to expand its lead before Harding came to the plate at the top of the third.

Harding put together six of its total nine hits in the top of the third, converting them into eight runs as HU jumped out to an 8-1 lead. Brewer wound up relieving Becca Almond towards the end of the Harding run.

With Brewer keeping the Lady Bisons at eight runs, HSU got its second run from Crysta Larey on a sacrifice-bunt from Ashlyn Taylor. With the score 8-2, Harding found two more runs in the top of the seventh to HSU's one final run, giving HU the win, 10-3.

GAME TWO
In game two, Harding got things started first this time, putting up two runs before Henderson saw its first at-bat. In the Reddies' first at-bat, however, they claimed the 3-2 lead on three RBIs from Czoey White, Kailey Reese, and Brooke Arnold.

Henderson's lead was short-lived, however, as Harding scored five unanswered runs to retake the lead, 7-3. Another run from HSU in the bottom of the fifth was the final one for the home team as two more runs in the Lady Bisons' final at-bat showed the final tally, 9-4.

Henderson State (3-14, 2-9) will now hit the road on Wednesday, Mar. 17 for Cleveland, Mississippi, in a doubleheader against Delta State in the second part of the home-and-home series after DSU came to Dee White Field to start HSU's 2021 season.
