2022 DON HANSEN ALL-AMERICA TEAM

BROOKFIELD, Ill. - Henderson State wide receiver Xavier Malone added to his laundry list of postseason accolades, reaching the All-America trifecta after being named a 2022 Don Hansen All-America Honorable Mention. Malone received First Team and Second Team selection according to publications D2Football Elite 100 and D2CCA, respectively.

It is the second year in a row Henderson has placed a wide out on the Don Hansen All-American team. L'liott Curry was named a unanimous Division II First Team selection in 2021.

Malone, from Mound Bayou, Mississippi, was one of just two wide receivers in the country to earn Elite 100 First Team honors with D2Football around the turn of the new year. Malone led NCAA DII in yards per reception (20.63) among all players with 40 or more catches. He had seven 100-yard receiving games this fall and scored a touchdown in 10 of the Reddies' 11 contests.

In just two seasons at Henderson State, Malone made his presence felt in a big way, accounting for 135 receptions, 2352 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns. As the feature receiver this fall, his numbers took off and he racked up 1382 yards on 67 receptions and 15 touchdowns in just 11 games. He finished the regular season No. 2 nationally in yards and No. 4 in receiving scores.

Henderson St. finishes off the 2022 offseason awards with 13 All-Conference honorees, three All-Region recipients and one Xavier Malone, who received three All-American nods.
