2023 ALL-SUPER REGION 3 TEAMS
TOPEKA, Kan. - After becoming the first ever Henderson State tight end to earn First Team All-GAC honors,
Cayden Davis was selected Second Team All-Region by the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA).
The award marks the second year in a row HSU has landed a tight end on the All-Region team, with
Mike Benning earning Second Team honors in 2022. It is also the fourth consecutive year a Reddie pass catcher has been named among the region's best (not offered in 2020).
Davis finished the 2023 campaign third on the team with 365 yards while also being tied for third with three touchdowns. The First Team All-GAC selection also proved to be one of HSU's biggest big-play threats, averaging 19.21 yards per reception for second on the squad.
Davis caught one of his three touchdowns passes in the regular season finale against then-No. 10 Ouachita Baptist to go with his three catches for 47 yards to help pull off the upset. The Caddo Mills, Texas, product had his biggest outing on the road against Arkansas-Monticello with a season-high four receptions for 87 yards and a score, including a 74 yard catch-and-run to paydirt.
Davis, a redshirt-sophomore, will return next year to help stabilize an HSU passing attack which will be without its 2023 receiving leader and fellow All-GAC First Team recipient wide receiver
Chris Hatzis.
