ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Henderson State will see its first mid-week action Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 2 p.m. when the Reddies head southeast to Clinton, Mississippi to take on Mississippi College.

REDDIES REPORT
Through two tournaments to open the 2023 season, HSU went 5-2, including victories over Northwest Missouri St. and Washburn, 5-1 and 7-6, respectively. Most recently, the Reddies enjoyed a pair of run-rule victories over McKendree and Lane as Henderson recorded a total of 26 hits in 15 innings while allowing just 10.

Greyson Stevens became the program's all-time hits leader against McKendree, claiming his 195th career hit in the bottom of the first frame against the Bearcats. Stevens went the rest of the game going 4-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs and himself scoring two runs. Fellow-first baseman
Luke Rice followed up Steven's record-breaking hit with a grand slam to begin the offensive onslaught for the home team.

Through seven games, shortstop
Logan Cowart is leading the club with a .400 batting average as he has eight hits and five RBIs. Rice and Argenbright are pacing the bunch with seven RBIs while the program's all-time hits leader has a team-high 11 hits. As a team, HSU has already tallied five triples, two of which have come from
Cade Tucker. For comparison, last year's group only totaled 13 triples through 57 games.

Ryan Galvan and newcomer
Reese Weaks have spent the most time on the mound for the Reddies thus far, having pitched 11 and 10 innings, respectively. Galvan is carrying a 0.82 ERA with seven strikeouts to just six hits, while Weaks is pacing the pitching staff with 11 strikeouts. In 60 innings, the HSU coaching staff has already thrown 16 arms out to the bump.

Henderson St. defeated Mississippi College last year at the Choctaw's park, 12-8. Stevens led the offense for the Reddies on that day with three hits and two RBIs. On one swing of the bat,
Dillon Thomas put up three RBIs as his three-run home run in the seventh inning put HSU ahead, 9-4. Â Â

SCOUTING MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE (1-6)
Mississippi College comes into the matchup with the Reddies off a tough three-game series at No. 1 North Greenville, losing the final two contests of the series by a total three runs. To open the season, MC lost to GAC-opponent Arkansas-Monticello in three games by a combined 24-6. At 1-6 on the season, the Choctaw's lone win came at Miles College, 23-3.

Of its primary starters, MC's leading hitter is sophomore catcher Beau Kirsch, who is hitting .300 with six hits. Junior infielder Caleb Reese paces the team with eight RBIs, including a pair of home runs. On the mound, Mississippi College has three pitchers with two starts each as Gavin LeBlanc leads the trio of arms with a 6.75 ERA in 9.1 innings pitched.
